Results of poll

Yesterday, I posted a poll.

It did not involve cake.

However, the answers and explanation are under the cut.

The top, and correct, answer was: It's Han Solo in Carbonite from the original Star Wars trilogy. Now gimme my prize.

No prizes, sorry. Not even cake.

Also correct: It's that guy from Star Wars. Amirite?

Right indeedy!

As for the rest:

Is this a trick question?
Actually, no, it wasn't.

Are you drunk?
Unfortunately not.

Is there anyone who doesn't know who this is?
Ah... See below.

You're really bored, aren't you?
I wasn't after discovering my flist's obsession with cake.

So...

One of my carers is redecorating. She's found the perfect light switch for her bedroom. She showed me a pic of it.

Yes.

Only, it turned out she had no idea who it was - she just liked his switch. Cue me explaining Han Solo, Carbonite, Darth Vader, and Jabba the Hutt.

And none of the carers I asked had any idea who Han Solo was.

Apparently, this is how my carers now view me:

Your carers are worse off than that girl who retold the whole original trilogy without ever actually watching any of the movies or related things. ^.^

I was absolutely astonished that the usual answer was, "Who?" Han Solo...FCOL!

Well, I suppose that gives a whole new meaning to turning the light switch on and off, but how could you buy that as a light switch if you didn't know what it was? ("Grey Man in Torment with Light Switch in Hilarious Place!" How do you purchase it without noticing you're getting a fannish bit of decor?)

I know, I know! I couldn't believe it either! :oD

It did not involve cake.

It did once I'd finished with it. :-D

Things are better with cake. :-)

Eeeeeeeevil!

*blink blink blink* No wonder you've been having such problems with your carers!

And why would you even buy that without knowing what it is? Random man trapped in stone with comedy light switch?! Huh?!

The world is a strange place.

Random man trapped in stone with comedy light switch?!

That's the perfect description for it! Comedy light switch! *cries with laughter*

Oh dear, they didn't know who Han Solo was? Educational standards are definitely falling!! :)

As for the light switch, well, yes, maybe that's not the best place for the switch to go... and the other hand, though...! :D

[identity profile] dimity-blue.livejournal.com 2016-05-17 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! You can buy it where the switch goes in Han's stomach, but that's not as amusing.

No, and has shades of 'Alien' in there too!!

[identity profile] dimity-blue.livejournal.com 2016-05-18 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely a good point!

[identity profile] amedia.livejournal.com 2016-05-15 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm still giggling over the switch. Because I'm, you know, still 13 at some level.

But add my amazement to the aggregate that anyone would buy that not knowing who it was!!!

[identity profile] dimity-blue.livejournal.com 2016-05-17 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Not knowing who it was but still buying the switch!

I think the switch is hilarious too. :oD

bwhahahahahahahahahahaah

*gasp*

bwhahahahahahahahaha

though the entire discussion about cake was pretty darn amusing as well. However, the light switch totally makes my day. so many things to say. *giggle*

Also I feel so sorry for your culturally deprived carers because ?really?. han frozen in carbonite is oen of the iconic images of the early 80s.

[identity profile] dimity-blue.livejournal.com 2016-05-17 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I thought! It's not like all the carers are 20 year olds who might not know anything of the 80s.

[identity profile] stargatesg1971.livejournal.com 2016-05-20 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, well, I never would have thought it was a light switch. I think I'd laugh everytime I turned it on, LOL, oooo that sounds so naughty and yet it was a completely innocent statement. *giggles*

Ha! You're as bad as the rest of us. :oD
