Kamikaze Cat and the Masked Bandit
by Arnie (aka Sarah)
The two opponents squared up to each other, tails lashing wildly as they circled looking for an opening.
With a yowl the black and white one, named 'Bandit' due to his black mask and white face, leapt upon the fearless warrior facing him.
Kamikaze whirled away from the pounce and grabbed at Bandit's back legs, claws extended. Gleefully, he bit at the waving tail, screaming out his joy at finding a snake on the carpet.
Bandit was furious. Spinning on the spot he grabbed his attacker's head with both front paws and snapped ferociously at the ears he found there. The head jerked back as Kamikaze tried to bite at Bandit's face, but the black and white one was victorious and he held his victim down, nibbling the ears happily until a paw came up and smacked him in the eye.
Gaining a bit of space, Kamikaze jumped free and stalked around his opponent, screeching all the while about the terrible things he was going to do to him.
Bandit hissed his defiance, winding the ginger tom up as he went. With a show of bravado that was not all show, he told the ginger that everyone knew he still ran to Mummy when the going got tough.
The ginger tail lashed even more; that slur on his cathood was not to be borne. Tiring of threats and hissed insults, the ginger leapt, his front paws waving wildly as he trounced his victim soundly. Bandit fell back for a few seconds, as the ginger's rage was unleashed, then recovered and threw himself happily into the fray.
Black, white and ginger rolled across the ground as each of them strove to gain the upper hand and win the day. Tails waved, paws flew through the air, and teeth sought to get a good grip on any body parts that were available, regardless of to whom they belonged.
Finally, their frenzied rolling took them to the feet of the mother cat, who sighed as she stared down at her kittens. Reaching down, she separated them by the simple method of catching Kamikaze's scruff in her mouth and carrying him away to be cleaned.
Bandit smirked as the indignant blue eyes blazed back at him. The field of victory was his! He frolicked on the spot, chasing his tail, hunting a piece of fluff, until the same mouth that had won him his victory returned to catch his scruff and carry him off. Sadly, he submitted to being held down with one paw while his mother cleaned his stomach. After all, even warriors need a bath sometimes.
