Garlic flatbread. It's absolutely delicious.

21. What's a big pet peeve you have?
People using "I's" instead of "my".

22. Do you have an inanimate object that you have given a name?
My Kindle. It's actually to keep track of them on Amazon's system. I've had Trey (my 3rd), Quarto (my 4th), and my current one is Quinto.

17. If you were given $1M, with the stipulation that you must spend it on yourself within one year, how would you spend it?
I'd buy a bungalow and have it fitted out exactly how I wanted with everything adapted for me to use with the flick of a switch. It'd also have wider doorways so I could have Neater arm supports that'd enable me to lift my arms.

18. What do you daydream about?
Usually whatever story I'm working on. Sometimes, I daydream about being able-bodied.

19. What was the first song you ever memorized?
The Eton Boating Song, I think. I was playing it on the piano.

13. What's your favorite childhood story or fairy tale?
When I was a kid, I was fascinated by The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Even then, I thought they were terrible people for not caring what happened to the princes who were executed.

Now, I have a definite fondness for Cinderella.

14. What are your Top Ten favorite books?
Busman's Honeymoon - DL Sayers
Murder Must Advertise - DL Sayers
The Horse and his Boy - CS Lewis
The Lost Prince - Frances Hodgson-Burnett
Miss Buncle's Book - DE Stevenson
Black Sheep - Georgette Heyer
The City of Gold and Shadows - Ellis Peters
Never Pick Up Hitchhikers - Ellis Peters
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens

Choosing 10 was more difficult than I thought. There are so many books I'm fond of, but would they count as a favourite?

7. Have you ever called in sick to work when you weren't actually ill but didn't want to give the real reason?
Yep. Before I received an official diagnosis, I was struggling with my walking and keeping my balance. The last winter I worked, the pavement was covered in ice. I didn't get far before I turned tail, went home, and rang in sick with a migraine.

8. Have you ever talked to yourself out loud in public?
Not that I recall.

9. Are you a worrier? What's something you're worried about right now. Can you do something constructive about the situation?
I used to worry about everything. Now, I'm far more of a fatalist.

10. Would you sign up to be a colonist on another planet if it meant you would never be able to return to earth?
Nooooooooooo. That's regardless of a return journey or not. Have you seen sci-fi films? The colonies are the first to go.

11. Do you like having your picture taken? Why or why not?
Not really. I'm better than I was but I don't like the way I look.

12. Do you experiment with your hairstyle often, or do you have a classic style you stick with?
Classic? Style? What are these words you use?

1. What Hogwarts house would you be sorted into?
I'd say Ravenclaw but I'm lousy at riddles.

4. If you could eliminate one thing that you did every day, what would it be?
Being got up by carers. It'd be lovely to get myself up and ready for the day without any help.

5. Your rescue team in the coming zombie apocalypse is the cast of the last tv show you watched. How screwed are you?
Ha! Person of Interest. If anyone can survive it, they can.

6. What is something you do to indulge yourself?
Get cream cakes once a week or so. Yum!

28. Do you write in cursive?
Yep. It's more difficult than it was, thanks to the muscular dystrophy, but I still do.

29. If you could witness any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be?
Anything? Wow... Okay:

The first powered flight by man.

The first powered flight was Henri Giffard's steam-powered airship in 1852. On Sept. 24, 1852, Giffard traveled almost 17 miles (27 kilometers) from Paris to Trappes moving at about 6 miles per hour (10 kilometers/hour). His airship could be steered only in calm weather, though. In wind, it could fly only in slow circles.

I'd also want to see the Wright Brothers' first flights in 1903, but that first powered flight by airship? Can you imagine?

30. Do you have a favorite painting? (Post a picture?) Possibly:

But I have a weakness for most of the Impressionists.

31. Do you swear a lot?
Not as much as I used to.

26. What did you enjoy doing most today?
Talking to my friend Christine on the phone.

27. If you knew 100% that you wouldn't get caught, would you do anything illegal, immoral, or maybe just embarrassing? Tell us about it.
I probably wouldn't...but I'd be really tempted to target wealthy and corrupt people and drain their bank accounts and assets to £1 while redistributing their wealth to charitable organisations.
dimity_blue: (BookQuill)
I'm really not keeping up with this! Oh, well.

24. If you won a huge lottery, with more money than you could use, what charitable organization or civic donation would you fund?
Hillside Animal Sanctuary. Their patron is Martin Shaw and they focus on helping farm animals, but they seem to help any animal in need. They also run undercover investigations to expose cruelty in the farming industry and the sanctuary is home to over 2,500 animals. I first heard about them from a campaign to raise the funds to save Benjy the bull from the slaughterhouse in Ireland. Hillside offered him a forever home but he needed to get there first. Boris had been intended to be a stud bull only it turned out he didn't like girl cows.

If you ever want to make my day, please give them a bale of hay for £4.

25. What three fictional characters (from film, TV, or books) do you most strongly identify with?
Barbara Buncle from Miss Buncle's book (D E Stevenson). She's shy and withdrawn at first and is frequently overlooked and ignored.

Mary Bennet from Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen). While I'm not sanctimonious and I hope I'm nowhere near as tone-deaf as Mary, I identify with her feeling of being completely alone and out of step with everyone around her.

Abigail Wendover from Black Sheep (Georgette Heyer). She has far more charm than I could hope for, but she has a bad habit of sacrificing her wants for her sister and niece.

9. What's unique about you, that's different from everyone else you know?
My DNA! *is a smartarse*

10. Would you rather get away with any lie you told or always know when someone else is lying?
Always know when someone else is lying. Don't waste my time with lies. I've realised I have very little patience with them.

11. Everyone always thinks they'd be royalty or a knight if they were born in Medieval times, but let's be honest, you probably wouldn't be. So, what kind of person do you think you'd be if you were born in medieval times?
A peasant, most probably. If I was lucky, I'd be able to enter a nunnery.

12. If you could implant one false memory in the minds of everyone in your country, what would that memory be?
The memory of really being loved. I think most people with issues don't have that. I hope it would help.

5. Would you rather be the main character in a fantasy story, a sci-fi story, or a horror story?

A fantasy!

4. Are you a Baby Boomer, Generation Jones, Gen X, Millennial, or younger? What's a generalization people make about your generation cohort that's all wrong?

I had to look it up but I'm Gen X. I have no idea what people assume about us. Googling, it seems to be very US-centric.
dimity_blue: (BooksStack)
3. What hobby or activity would you do more if the internet and TV went down for a month?

Reading books. I think I'd get through a few.

dimity_blue: (BooksStack)

Yep! I have a few, actually, includng the Lord Peter Wimsey stories (Dorothy L. Sayers) and Campion books (Margery Allingham), but I think my actual favourite is the Chalet School series by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer. My Auntie Vi gave me my first book from it (The Princess of the Chalet School) and I've loved it ever since.

2. Was there a toy you really wanted as a child, but never got?
A Sindy doll. Instead I had a Pippa doll which was 6.5 inches tall. She had all kinds of outfits, includng a Bay City Rollers tartan one.
dimity_blue: (BooksStack)

dimity_blue: (BooksStack)
24. Have you ever re-gifted a gift that was given to you?

I've given things away if they're not suitable for me or not my style. I've never given them as gifts for an occasion though. That just wouldn't feel right to me.
dimity_blue: (BooksStack)
22. Do you have a living will or other documentation of an end-of-life care plan?

No. I should organise one.
dimity_blue: (BooksStack)

A sauna. I hate it when my skin goes wrinkly from being in a bath too long.
dimity_blue: (BooksStack)

Situational, for the most part.
dimity_blue: (FlutterbyLove)

dimity_blue: (BooksStack)

I didn't think about my future at all.
