The Friday Five
May. 16th, 2008 06:01 pmTV Time!
1. What's your favourite TV network?
Not a clue. If you mean favourite TV channel then the Sci Fi Channel or UK Gold might qualify. But I like various programmes that seem to pop up on various channels.
2. If you could create your own channel, what would it be?
One that shows good quality TV programmes - no reality TV, holiday programmes, make-over programmes or game shows. Classic stuff from the past with good shows from now.
3. What TV show did you watch as a child, that you wish they would bring back?
Garrison's Gorillas - though I didn't watch that until I was in my early 20s and it was on re-run.
4. What show have you always hated, and wonder why they ever made such a dumb show?
Last of the Summer Wine. I loathe that programme.
5. What TV show's seasons would you buy on DVD?
There are lots I have bought or am hoping to buy. Garrison's Gorillas (if it ever becomes available); The Sentinel (got season 1, hoping seasons 2-4 will be released); NCIS; the Lord Peter Wimsey series (got most of them); Firefly (got the only season of it); the Cadfael series (got the first four, don't want the rest); various Star Trek series; the list goes on.

Date: 2008-05-16 05:59 pm (UTC)Did you ever see the last one, The Pilgrim of Hate? I've read all the books, so I know how the story goes, and that 'adaptation' totally ignored the book. They changed the victim, the murderer, the innocent-but-suspected guy, the relationships between the three of them, the motive and how the murder was committed!
That one was created after Ellis Peter (the author) had died, so I suspect that had something to do with it.

I'd love the see Lindsey Davis' Falco books turned into a TV series, but I really don't trust any TV company to get it right. Sure, you have to cut some bits out, but you don't change the actual murderer and therefore pretty much the entire plot!!!
