dimity_blue7 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
Change my opinion? Maybe not. But I've certainly read stories that have enlightened me in regard to a character's uh...character, thought processes, or motives. I've also had a few lightbulb moments while writing my own fic.
IMO, stories are all about exploration. I feel that writing a story is like going on a trip: you might know the destination but the scenery you discover as the story unfolds itself will be new to you. I feel the same way about character studies, but the scenery in that case is made up of different facets of the character. Sometimes turning a jewel will make you see it in a new light.
