30 Day Fanfic Meme - Day 17

17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?

Ha, chaptered fic! *laughs mockingly* If I can barely come up with one title, do you think I'd title every chapter?

As for actual titles, it depends. At least once I've had the title first**, usually I find the title while I'm writing the fic, and sometimes I end up with a fic and no title, which is unbelievably frustrating. At that point, I look through the fic to see if anything I wrote is suitable as a title. If not, I consider what would fit. Sometimes I google something about the fic to see if any phrase pops up.

I much prefer it when I have the title to start or find the title mid-fic.

**Alas, Poor Fargo. I was coming home from the corner shop and 'Alas, poor Iago' popped into my head. Next step: 'Alas, Poor Fargo.' Next step: 'Jim hates the Fargo hat.' Step after that: 'Jim hates the Fargo hat and tries to get rid of it.' I pretty much had the fic by the time I got home.

Ah yes, titles! Sometimes they come so easily, other times oh so not!! And yes, I've titled chapters too - I've no idea why, but I feel like I should! *facepalm*

I love the bit about Alas Poor Fargo, lol!! I love it when fics happen like that! :D

It's annoying when you can't find a title, isn't it? Fic completed, ready to post, and..."What on earth can I call it?!"

You know, maybe one day you should write a fic and call it exactly that, lol!! :D :D

Hubby has suggested calling your next fic 'The Martians Have Not Landed', because unless you've written a fic about martians landing, then it'll be true! :D

LOL! Somehow, I think people would expect a story that involves Martians not landing... Like a Martian hoax or something. I admit, it would be true though, no matter what the fic's about!

I hate coming up with a title, most of the time I incorporate something from the fic itself coz I can't come up with anything.
