A meme, a meme!
Mar. 18th, 2016 02:09 pmStolen, uh, borrowed from
swordznsorcery. Shh, don't tell. I'll put it back later.
Spoilers included for Dead Man's Folly by Agatha Christie.
What was the last movie you watched:
Hmm, last actual film watched was Ballet Shoes with Emma Watson. It was fairly good but I liked the book better.
More recently (I think, anyway), was a Poirot TV film, Dead Man's Folly. David Suchet as Poirot. It was pretty good. I read the book years and years ago but, watching the film, it really struck me what a terrible person Mrs. Folliat was. She was taking care of Hattie, who was described as subnormal - a lovely but extremely docile girl - and she 'encouraged' Hattie to marry her son so her son could enjoy Hattie's fortune. She did this even though she'd been afraid of her own son when he was a child... She hoped he'd be kind to Hattie.
Then, when he murdered Hattie and buried her under the folly, Mrs. Folliat kept her mouth shut. Which allowed him and his real wife to go on to murder 2 more people.
In the book, there's no criticism of Mrs. Folliat. Poirot admires her, for how she deals with the tragedies of her life. *side-eyes*
What was the last song you listened to:
This one:
I first heard it in a Leverage tribute video (seriously, if you like Leverage, watch this). It's a gorgeous song though. I hadn't heard of Phillip Phillips before but I really like his voice.
Last TV Show you watched:
Friends. I've been rewatching it. The latest ep I saw was season 1, The One With the Fake Monica.
Last Book you read:
Parker Pyne Investigates by Agatha Christie. I have a fondness for the Parker Pyne stories and I'm disappointed there's only one book of them.
Ate:
Last book I ate? Uh...I don't think I ever did as my mother had a lot of respect for books. Last food I ate was a Wiltshire Farm Foods meal: omelette, chips, and beans.
Where would you be if you could be anywhere in the world:
Somewhere warm and sunny with no biting insects. A beach, with my toes curling into the sand, and a bright blue sky that goes on forever.
What decade would you visit if you could travel in time:
A future one where they could cure me of all my ills and send me back all able bodied and healthy. Actually, maybe I'd stay there. :oD
First thing you’d do if you won the lottery:
Buy a fully adapted, disabled friendly house, and hire a carer to put me to bed at the time of my choosing.
Pick a fictional character to hang out with for a day:
Hmmm...I'm really not sure. So many characters are entertaining but have major drawbacks. I'd probably go for someone quiet like Mrs. Hudson. We could have tea and biscuits in her kitchen and she could tell me about her life as a drug baron's trophy wife.

Date: 2016-03-18 05:30 pm (UTC)Great answers - I keep seeing this meme floating about all over the place, and I love the different answers people are giving. Brilliant.
Your lottery answer... may I add my vote to you winning please? And your time travel answer too - I want that so much for you, especially with the crap you're going through now. *may still be a tad cross about it all*
Best of all though, I love the idea of hanging out with Mrs Hudson. Wouldn't that just be the best? Such a sensible lady, all things considered, and what a great gossip you'd have with her.
