I was pleased to see all 5 seasons of Stargate: Atlantis were free to watch on Amazon UK Prime Video. I only saw episodes up to season 3 and I wouldn't swear I've seen more than one full season.
Some spoilers under the cut.
I hate it when series kill off main characters I like. I could deal with Ford going off the deep end (especially as I like Ronon a lot) but Carson was a step too far.
Then I noticed Prime Video had SGA listed twice. One complete set of seasons were free to watch on Prime but couldn't be bought and the other set could be bought but weren't free to watch.
Weird, but, still, all 5 seasons were there and waiting and Carson does (sorta, not really) come back, so I decided to give it a go.
I watched Rising 1&2 and Hide and Seek, and next up was Thirty Eight Minutes. I was practically bouncing at this point because it's such a good episode and...
...the seasons free to watch on Prime Video are no longer available at all.
(My reaction at that point may have been Rodney-esque without any galaxies being destroyed.)
I did a search and the other set of seaons are still available to buy, so I bought season 1. No, I don't understand it either. Amazon probably doesn't even realise and I'm not telling them.
Anyway, my thoughts on the Rising 1&2.:
Rising 1: I love Carson being all freaked out about Ancient Technology (and Rodney's jealousy that he hasn't got the gene) and accidentally almost killing Jack and John, and then Carson freaks out even more.
Jack trying to be top lofty over John's disobeying orders and Elizabeth calling him on it. Then Jack assuming Elizabeth is trying to poach Daniel for Atlantis and Elizabeth is all, "No, you can keep him. I want Sheppard." But, also, Daniel champing at the bit to go too.
Firstly, we all know what Jack's like when people hijack his geek. Weir wouldn't have made it 5 yards. Secondly, Dead Again Daniel going to Atlantis would have been a very different series.
Who put Sumner in charge of Making Friends and Influencing People? Thank God he was (mostly) killed by the Wraith. He would have been a disaster. He was about ready to shoot the Athosians for being different. I'm pretty sure he would have shot Rodney for annoying him sooner or later.
I love John and Ford in the Puddle Jumper. LOL, Ford can't name things and neither can Rodney. Sumner would never have gone for a name like Puddle Jumper... that shows he wasn't coming back.
I also love John and Ford looking around in case the Puddle Jumper did produce a nice turkey sandwich.
(Cue Atlantis's algorithms doing a search on 'WTF is turkey sandwich?')
One thing I'm curious about. Elizabeth said they could all bring one personal item from Earth. At the end of Rising 2, she's wearing a pretty necklace. Was that her one item? Really? It just seems strangely impractical of her. (Now I'm picturing her stashing a baggie of jewellery in her pocket so it wouldn't count as her One Item.)
