Irena Sendler.

I can't imagine the nerve it took to do what she did. She knew what she was risking, she was imprisoned, tortured, and scheduled for execution. She was rescued, and lived in Poland for the rest of her life. She died in 2008.

In a more modern vein, I think Michelle Obama is awesome. She does so much, and she faces so much hate all the damned time, for being black, a woman, smart, and just about anything else likely to trigger the far-right.

I've heard about Sophie Scholl too. It's absolutely disgraceful. That poor, brave girl.

What I really find infuriating about the hatred directed towards Michelle Obama (and other black women) is how the haters will deny how much of their hatred is race or sex-based.

Yes, it's always some other reason, isn't it! Like her being part of the "elite", whatever that even means; despite so many of them being Trump supporters. And he was born a billionaire, and has a gold-plated bathroom. But that's different because reasons.
