Yep. I've still got the teddy bear I got when I was 2 and a talking doll called Sally I got when I was 7 or so.

Sally has a hoop attached to a string in her back. You pull it to make her talk. The hoop came off once but my cousin fixed it. Yes, Sally still talks only - due to the reattaching of the hoop - the string is just a tiny bit too short so the last bit of her statements is lost.

That's a shame about her being cut short! Great that she does still work though. IIRC my sister's cried and said "Mama" (or was supposed to). There's ten years between me and my sister. By the time I remember seeing the doll, all she did was make an abortive gargling noise! Said sister not gentle. :D
