For 10 days, post a picture (DVD cover/poster) of a movie you like.
Please join in, if you want to.
Today's movie is Galaxy Quest (1999).

Galaxy Quest is a Star Trek spoof adventure film from 1999. Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen) is - or rather was - Commander Peter Quincy Taggart of the NSEA Protector. He and his loyal crew defended the weak and helpless on a weekly TV show. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled and Jason, Gwen (Sigourney Weaver), Alexander (Alan Rickman), Fred (Tony Shalhoub), and Tommy (Daryl Mitchell) are working the convention circuit and meeting and greeting fans.
Then a group of rather unusual fans, led by Malthesar (Enrico Colantoni) turn up. Jason, who's a bit hungover at the time, thinks it's another fan job. It turns out they're aliens - real aliens - who have come seeking help dealing with a terrible dictator, Sarris (Robin Sachs).
The actors of the TV show are now all that stand between Sarris and the rest of the universe. Oh, they also have Guy (Sam Rockwell), a bit part extra, who's realised he's the only redshirt in space.
~'~
Galaxy Quest is absolutely hilarious. From the disliked Jason, who has to step up to be the hero he once pretended he was, to the Thermians to the nerds, it's an affectionate tongue in cheek look at Sci-Fi and its fans. You don't need to be a Trekkie to enjoy this as its a rollicking adventure film too.
