Was that a thunderstorm?
Sep. 24th, 2020 01:49 pmIt might have been an earthquake.
About 20 minutes ago, there was a huge boom and the windows rattled. My first thought was a thunderstorm, but I didn't notice any lightning. If it was a thunderstorm, it was over and done with in one massive rumble.
It was very weird.

Date: 2020-09-25 03:43 am (UTC)Many, many years ago, I was outside working. One of the dogs I had at the time was [a] terrified of thunder and [b] liked to roam the neighborhood when I was outside. (Otherwise, they stayed inside the fence.) This was rural, so "neighborhood" could be half a mile away or more.
So, bright sunny day, no clouds -- and all of a sudden there was a humongous clap of thunder. I stood up, suspected what was coming and, sure enough -- there was a fuzzy blonde streak approaching at a high rate of speed. I think she was at least a quarter-mile away when it happened, and am pretty sure that she'd have outrun a greyhound as she raced toward me and leaped into my arms.
The odd thing was, sonic booms didn't bother her, though thunder and fireworks did. Go figure.
But yeah, single thunder-claps are rare, but they can happen.
