Cataracts are annoying. Cataracts and astigmatism are doubly annoying, and make it hard to read black writing on a white background.

I got around it by using Arial Black font for awhile but even that's a strain at times. I found you can set up Word documents to have a black background with chunky Arial Black font in white. It's so much easier to read! Okay, it means copy and paste ad infinitum, but aaah the relief!

Open a Word document, click on Design, and pick Page Color to change it. I always save a blank copy with my preferences (page colour and font) on my desktop for easy access.

So, if you know anyone who might find this handy, pass it on.

Cataracts are miserable. Can you get them removed? I don't think they necessarily have to have you lie flat. Tilted recliners were what they used for the drops and recovery and I would bet they could manage to do the surgery with you slightly inclined if necessary. The anesthesia was just a "they are sticking a needle in my eye but who cares" thing, I was awake the whole time.

For people who use Office 365 they have a "Dark Mode" that does this for you! Dark Mode in Word online

Google docs has a "dark mode" plugin to do the same thing.
