1. Comment on this post.

2. I will give you a letter.

3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

[livejournal.com profile] shiredancer handed me an 'L', so click on the cut to read.

1. Lina Lamont, from Singin' in the Rain. It's one of my favourite films, and I love Lina. She was totally oblivious, and thought she could outsmart people. She also had that amazingly awful voice! If I were an actress, I'd love to play Lina.

2. Lulu...Cousin Lulu, from The Glass Slipper. Not a main character, but rather important for all that, as it's her dress Mrs. Toquet stole for Cinderella to wear to the ball. Cousin Lulu started life as a maid, but her good looks (and a hint of blackmail) meant she ended up being a fashionable lady who lived on the hill, and bought very pretty ballgowns.

3. Leia - as in Princess Leia, heroine of the Star Wars trilogy. The original trilogy, thank you very much. Despite being weighed down by a bad hairstyle, Leia managed to kick ass, insult Han and Chewbacca, and help defeat the evil Empire. Her twin brother was Luke, so he'll fit into this category too.

4. Lugg, from Margery Allingham's Campion books. Lugg was Campion's manservant. He had a colourful past but disapproved strongly of Campion's insistance on involving himself in criminal affairs. Nevertheless, he always did his best to make sure Campion kept on breathing, no matter who was trying to kill him off.

5. Lydia Bennett, from Pride and Prejudice. This is one of my favourite Jane Austen books, though Lydia is not a favourite character of mine. Spoiled, silly, and rather naive, she nearly ruined her family and didn't even realise it! Fortunately, thanks to Mr. Darcy, she married Wickham and her reputation was saved.

So, there's my lot. Anyone want a letter?

I've already done my bit, but I just wanted to say "Well done!" Lulu and Lugg are new to me -- they sound intriguing.

The Campion books are really good! A few of them were adapted for TV, and made into a series starring Peter Davison, with Brian Glover as the dependable Lugg. I really like them. :oD

Oh, dear Lugg - I'd forgotten all about him! I obviously need to dig out my Campion books again...

Have you seen any of the TV series? Peter Davison starred in it (as Campion, of course), with Brian Glover as Lugg. I think they were really good.

Did you want a letter? If so, how about an 'S'. If not, just ignore this line. :oD

Yeah - I remember seeing the TV series ages ago - really ages ago! And I probably haven't read the books since before then. Meep! Brian Glover - I'd forgotten he played Lugg; he was wonderful, with that fabulous accent of his.

No letter for me, ta muchly - I'm up to my whatsits in work this week, so I have to keep my playtime to the minimum ::pouts:: But of course, now you've said S to me, I'm going to be pondering!
