Jim tried, and failed miserably, laser the offending magazine into submission but for some reason, known only to the Universe and Guides in general, his ability to intimidate objects was adversely affected by the presence of said Guide.
"Jim," Blair continiued to enthuse apparrently unaware that his life hung in the balance, "you'll thank me later. Seventy and still Sentineling which you won't be if you continue to eat at WB"
