I know at least one person on my flist ::waves to [livejournal.com profile] admiralandrea:: likes hidden object games, so I thought I'd post about these.

Grim Tales: The Bride is more than a hidden object game as it's got stacks of mini puzzles too. Your character is returning to your childhood home to attend your twin sister's wedding. When you get there, she's disappeared and is possibly dead, and there's a demon giving you hints to find her. It's not too creepy, and the ending is *really* abrupt, but the game itself is good. You can skip the mini puzzles if you want to, and there's a hint button if you get stuck.

Grim Tales: The Legacy is the sequel to the above game (obvious, huh?). In it, you're off to visit your sister, her husband and her baby, but, when you get there, there's no sign of any of them, but there are a few wolves hanging around. Again, there are lots of mini puzzles to go with the hidden object scenes.

There's another sequel, The Wishes, but that doesn't have many mini puzzles in it and I'm finding that one incredibly boring. No recommendation for that!

The puzzle game:
Alt!Shift has got to be one of the best mindbending puzzles I've come across. The story line is simple and told in comic strip (mad scientist kidnaps your fiance/e), and you can play as a boy or as a girl. You enter a level and have to find your way to the exit. To do that, you have to unlock keys and move blocks...but they're not always the right way up. You can invert the screen or turn the screen 90 degrees if your character can reach a button 'in screen' to do that. Once you've finished the main game, you unlock other puzzles. Thankfully, you're allowed to skip up to 3 levels in the main game because some of them seem *that* unsolvable.

Hey! :waves back: I do love my hidden object games. You don't wanna know how many I have on my hard drive! Are those two on Wild Tangent?

I've been playing Jewel Quest the last couple of days for the first time in ages, but I've also been playing some Agatha Christie hidden object - I got a set of 4 in 1 for $9.95 on the iPlay website (not sure what that was in pounds - around £6.50 I think).

The other one also sounds interesting - I'll have a look. I know that I like those types of key/block mini games in the hidden object ones.

I like the Agatha Christie ones - I love how they include the plot in the game!

I don't think the Grim Tales games are on Wild Tangent yet. I looked but they didn't come up in a search. Maybe they'll be on there soon.

I downloaded the first Grim Tales one from Big Fish and did the first part in my one hour free trial.

And the other one - Alt!Shift was not at all what I thought it was/would be! Not the sort of game I play and I was hopeless at it.
