New York marathon
Nov. 2nd, 2012 08:15 pmI can't believe the NY marathon is supposed to be going ahead. There are people stuck in the city without water, food and electricity but the mayor of NY said the marathon would only divert "a relatively small amount of Sanitation Department resources". Oh, so that makes it okay then. There are massive generators reserved for the marathon, thousands of cases of bottled water and food reserved for the runners and spectators. I'm pretty sure the people without power, water and food could use those 'relatively small amounts'.
He also said the city had a responsibility to "help companies that need the business, to still generate a tax base". So, basically, it's all down to money again. Businesses are more important than people. Nice, Mayor Bloomberg. Real nice.
I hope anyone who was planning to run/spectate has more compassion and sense than Mayor Bloomberg and stays home.
