13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

Canon...unless it's an actual AU. But fanon is interesting and I don't object to using it.

Yep, writing fanfic has changed the way I view TV programmes and films. If I really like something, I find myself analysing it more, focussing on plot holes and where a missing scene could fit in. It doesn't mean I'll write that missing scene but I'll most likely think about what would fit there. I also find myself considering 'what if's and how much that would change what I'm seeing.

I'm like you with the canon/fanon thing, though sometimes I don't realise I've fallen into a fanon thing until later!!

And lol, yes, I'm thinking about missing scenes and what ifs too!! Especially when the fandom is all shiny and new!! :D

It's a lot of fun, isn't it? It's so easy to get carried away by 1001 plotbunnies. :oD

Missing scenes are great to play with and I love them. I prefer canon to fanon most of the time but I sometimes unconsiously blur the line.
