23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

My LJ and Ao3. I also have my own personal site with most of my fanfic on, but I really need to get back to update that. I have no idea how long it's been since I posted on there.

I like Ao3 but have mixed feelings on the kudos system. I do think it replaces a lot of those vague "I liked this fic" or "you're a good writer" reviews, so on that end I'm okay with it, because neither of those are really substantial so I'm probably not missing much. Plus, hopefully they encourage people to backspace rather than flame fics because they didn't like the ship. (I always hated that about ff.n. "I don't like this kind of fic!" Well, then, why'd you read it?) OTOH, sometimes I sit there going "...and what did you "kudos" about it?" I've come to accept it, and I truly do appreciate kudos, but I'd like more emphasis too.

And sometimes I look at a fic and wonder why it's been Kudosed to death. Which stories become popular is a mystery sometimes.

I like the kudos system. Comments are awesome, but I always take a kudo as a "Hey, I liked this!"

People who flame an author when the story is obviously labelled are annoying. Like you said, if you don't like the genre, don't read it.

Yeah. I know "don't like, don't read" has been overused by so many defensive butthurt fanfic writers, but there really is a point to be made. There's popular fandom genres and ships I will never, for the life of me, understand - but that's why I don't read those genres or ships. It's really not that hard.

Posting them in a number of places makes them easier for people to find. I'm sure your work in posting them is appreciated. I hope it is, anyway!

I like A03, its easy to use and reaches places personal website don't reach anymore but it's still nice to have your own space to archive on too. I know what you mean about updating it though...it seems more effort to do that than to upload to an archive these days so they kinda get left behind.
