Daily Mail or Metro.

I really don't know how I feel about this. If it was her choice - completely her choice - then it was her right to choose. However, it's mentioned that intensive therapy had helped before the therapy was stopped.

Her disability - she was bedridden with unspecified physical ailments - is mentioned in passing. I can't but wonder if her extreme disability was a factor in the doctors allowing her to go ahead. If they saw her life as worthless so she wasn't worth spending the money on to fund continuing therapy for her.

It's also interesting that none of the outrage focuses on her abuser, the one who did so much damage to her that she felt she could no longer exist. What price did the abuser pay for their actions?

These are the sort of cases that are worrying. We don't know all the facts, so can't say for sure, but I can't help wondering if the therapy would have worked if it had been continued, or why they deemed her recovery as hopeless. Did they just give up on her? At what point is it okay to allow someone with mental ill health to choose to die? I don't know the answers.

Me either. The doctors claim she was mentally competent and could make that decision. :o(

To me this is shocking. The person who abused her should have the same fate. I'm still trying to absorb this.

It's shocking that the Swiss doctors seem to be holding this up as a "good example" for euthanasia. The sysem seems to have failed this woman all the way around.

To say I'm shocked is an understatement. I don't know how they can justify their actions. Like, Patt, I'm still trying to absorb this.
