He's gone at 53. I wouldn't have called myself a fan of his, but I enjoyed Wham's music and George's solo music, admired his beautiful voice, and hoped he'd get help when his personal life went off the rails.

From the "passed peacefully at home", it sounds like he was ill and this wasn't unexpected. I hope he's at peace now.

They're having to do an autopsy, and he was planning a new album for next year, so not that expected. His manager is talking about heart failure though, so he may have known that his days were numbered. IIRC he nearly died of pnuemonia a few years back, so that may have caused/revealed heart problems.

Couldn't believe it when I heard last night. Our love of Wham! was one of the few things that my sister and I agreed on as kids! I never quite connected in the same way with most of his solo stuff, but you'd have to have a hard heart never to be moved by that voice.

Yeah, it really sounds like it wasn't expected and his bf found him dead. How awful for him. :o(

George had a lovely voice. Like you, I preferred his Wham! music because it was so bouncy and fun.
