Day 15: Silent clocks.

Also known as tickless clocks, which makes it sound like someone took the tick out as opposed to the clock never having a tick in the first place.

I like knowing the time but I hate hearing clocks tick. I especially dislike hearing clocks tick when I'm trying to sleep. I also especially dislike hearing a number of clocks tick at the same time.

So it was an absolute pleasure to discover you can buy traditional looking clocks that are completely silent.

Oddly enough, my Grandad felt the same way about clocks. He couldn't abide hearing a clock tick when he was trying to sleep either.

I don't like it much either.

My grandmother had a grandfather clock that had a beautiful tone to it but that's pretty rare.

Some grandfather clocks are lovely but they too have a loud tick!

I like the sound of a clock ticking! I find it very restful, although most of the time I think I just tune it out. I can imagine that the sound could easily become annoying if you're trying to sleep though. I've never had a ticking clock in my bedroom.
