365 day meme - month 2, day 28

28 If you could travel back to medieval times what single object would you take back with you that would guarantee that you would be made a king/Queen (or burned for witchcraft!)?

First, I wouldn't be willing to go. I love history but don't want to experience it first hand. If I had to go, I'd take a whole stack of books detailing the medicinal properties of every plant and the cures for every disease possible.

What's your favourite chocolate? Aside from Cadburys caramel eggs!

Cadbury's! I really like their chocolate. Not the bars of Dairy Milk though - they're a bit boring.

I also like Lily O'Brien's chocolates - what I've had of them anyway. I tried her Desserts Collection and they were rather delicious.

Montezuma's! They do some really good, really dark stuff. I don't have much of a sweet tooth anymore, so don't really go for milk chocolate nowadays, but they do a milk called "Darkside", which is 54% cocoa solids, and that's pretty good. I like their dark ones best though. They do a 100% cocoa, flavoured with orange oil, which is fab, and a 70% with cocoa nibs. And their dark chocolate cherry truffle bars! Oh yes.

They're a British company, and as ethical as they can be, which is good too.

I do wonder, on a purely sociological level, what it would actually be like. Suppose someone were a Chaucer scholar, and got to meet him. Would all of their knowledge of him stack up to reality? Or if a historian witnessed a well-known historical event they were an expert in - did it go down exactly as supposed?


But I don't think I'd want to go back in time either, and certainly not to the Middle Ages!
