I've just finished watching Blandings, an absolutely hilarious TV series based on the Blandings stories by P.G. Wodehouse.

The sad part is it's only 13 episodes long, which is split into 2 seasons. But what fabulous episodes! It's the 1920s and the Earl of Emsworth (Timothy Spall) seeks a peaceful life which he will spend with his pig, The Empress, and his gardens. Unfortunately, his sister Lady Connie (Jennifer Saunders, wielding a mean eyebrow) insists he rule like an earl, remember his nieces' names, and sometimes even put on a top hat and give a speech.

No matter how many times he hides in the servants' shoe cupboard she keeps on finding him.

To make matters worse, his younger son Freddy keeps on visiting because he's run out of money.

How have I missed seeing this before and why was it cancelled when so many terrible series are still going?

4 How would you describe your last disappointment?

Atrocious. I'm referring to my carers turning up at 01.25 for my 10.30-ish bed call.

3 Ever stolen a street sign?

Nope. Why would I steal a street sign?

2 Do you have freckles?

Nope. I have a couple of moles under my chin though.

The young woman trying to adopt her friend
By Zlata Onufrieva and Kateryna Khinkulova
BBC Russian

Arina and Nina used to only meet once a week - at activities organised for the care home where Nina lived. Now, Arina is applying to become Nina's guardian, giving the 27-year-old hope she might finally be able to leave the institution where she has lived her entire adult life.

For the past few months Nina Torgashova has been able to enjoy an independence that had always been out of reach for her - shopping, cooking and washing her own clothes.

Things that would be every-day life experiences for most 27-year-olds.

...with stropping her claws on one of the wheels on my wheelchair. She usually does it twice a day, sometimes more. I thought I remembered something about it being a way to mark territory, so I googled it.

~~~~~
Scratching is also used as a form of territorial communication or marking behaviour. Scent and sweat glands in between the pads of the feet mix to produce a unique smell. When claws are scraped down a surface, the scent is deposited and the combination of the mark, discarded claw husks and the smell provides a strong visual and scent message to other cats.
Cats will often scratch vigorously in the presence of their owners or other cats as a sign of territorial confidence.
Aww, Daisy, you do care! ❤️
30. Have you ever been on an island?
I live on an island. A pretty big, heavily populated one.
Have I ever been on another island? No.
1 Has a random person ever asked you for your phone number?
Not that I recall.
I spent my weekend doing genealogy and I absolutely wore myself out. My side was aching from too much mouse-work: copying, pasting, and typing.
But I advanced one line of my tree by two generations!
I finally have more Squeaky Bean nuggets and fishless fingers. The Vegankind Supermarket emailed me on Wednesday to say they had the items in stock so I ordered several and they were delivered yesterday. I haven't been able to buy any since last year, so I really am surprised at their reappearance.
I was on Facebook just now and saw a post from PETA UK asking people to take a survey and earn PETA 20p, so I clicked on it.
I got 3 questions in and stopped. The survey questions are about the fur industry in China and are GRAPHIC in their descriptions. If you see the post, don't click on it.
[personal profile] spikesgirl58 posted a six word challenge:
Six words – what can you make of them? You have up to 100 words and a week to figure that out. It can take the shape of a poem, prose, a drabble or even just a sentence - anything you want. Be silly, creative, but most importantly, have some fun! On Friday, we can post the results and see how we all did!
The words:
Doll
High
Civilization
Space
Error
Momentum
Naturally, I misunderstood and wrote a drabble for each instead of including all six words in one drabble.
So, underneath the cut are my six Sherlock drabbles. They're all gen and the first is horror.
My birthday
Thanks for all the sweet birthday wishes. I think I've replied to them all.
I had rather a nice day. Elaine came down and we had pizza and chocolate cheesecake. Elaine put a candle in the cheesecake and started singing "Happy Birthday" and Daisy woke up and meowed. I don't know if she was trying to join in or if she was asking what the heck that noise was. (I suspect the latter.)
I also had a large slice of chocolate cake that evening as Leah and Ellie, two of my carers, bought it for me. <3
I was given £80 in Amazon vouchers for my birthday so I spent rather a long time on Amazon spending them all - some on ornaments and quite a few on Amazon Video. Check under the cut for pictures of the ornaments I bought.
I also got a Winnie the Pooh ornament, a Figaro ornament (both Disney Traditions), and a cute Schleich grey tabby cat (pics under the cut).
Daisy was looking exceptionally cute while lounging on her wicker basket last night so Jade (one of my carers) kindly took a stack of pictures for me.
I just finished filling in a survey which was mostly about TV, and the last question was: Who do you think would win in a fight? King Kong or Godzilla?
Me: Whut?
I had to go with "I don't know."
Normally, YouGov is so serious. It really made me smile.
The new traps arrived yesterday and were duly baited with swiss roll. When Anne and Emma (my carers) arrived this morning, Anne excitedly announced we'd caught a moue while Emma freaked out. Once I was on my shower chair, Anne brought the trap to me so I could see my temporary tenant. It (he?) was dark furred and had big ears. Emma declared we were both weird for acting like it was a pet.
While Emma showered me, Anne took Mickey 2 for a walk and deposited him elsewhere. She didn't take him miles away but I'm hoping he won't come back.
