25. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards and just do what you know is right?

I guess, when the situation is dire.

My loved ones.

I was doing a search on Chrome and realised there was a Google Doodle. It was a row of birthday candles and the little pop up said, "Happy Birthday, Sarah!"

I had no idea they did that.

Fun facts from On This Day (https://www.onthisday.com/day/april/6):

1722 Peter the Great, Tsar of Russia, ends tax on men with beards.

1830 Joseph Smith & 5 others organize Mormon church in Seneca Co, NY.

1841 Cornerstone laid for 2nd Mormon temple, Nauvoo, Illinois.

1860 Joseph Smith III, creates the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by reorganizing the previous church organized by his father, Joseph Smith, Jr. (Mormons really like April 6th!)

1883 Start of Sherlock Holmes "Adventure of Speckled Band". \o/

1889 George Eastman begins selling his Kodak flexible rolled film for the first time.

1893 Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City dedicated. (What did I say about Mormons?)

1924 4 planes leave Seattle on 1st successful around-the-world flight.

1967 Premier Georges Pompidou forms new French government.

2009 "Star Trek" film reboot directed by J.J. Abrams, starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto premieres in Austin, Texas.

Also sharing my birthday: Elinor M. Brent-Dyer (the author of the Chalet School books), Billy Dee Williams (actor), and Jonathan Firth (actor).

As you guys might remember, I have 4 layer compression bandages on my lower legs. The top layer of my compression is a bandage called Koflex that's brown and rather sticky. The nurses usually cover my legs with a layer of comfi-gauze (a thin, stretchy gauze bandage) to stop my legs from sticking together (Koflex to Koflex) when I'm in bed.

The districtnurse didn't have any spare on when she came on Tuesday, so she put on a layer of Surgi-fix (a stretchy, crisscrossed mesh) instead. It didn't work. I really struggled to move my legs in bed on Tuesday night so I got the carers to duct-tape a pillowcase over one leg last night. That worked!

Today, all my carers have been saying, "Is that a pillowcase? Why is it duct-taped to your leg?"

22. What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?

I'd regret not writing. I'd regret not having Daisy, Christine, Elaine, and you guys.

21. If you had to teach something, what would you teach?

Basic English writing skills and I'd throw things at the worst pupils.

Playing video games, especially card, word, or puzzle games.

19. If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend?

Very probably far too long. It took me several months to snap about Claire and I didn't even like her in the first place.

18. Is it possible to lie without saying a word?

Absolutely. Just keep silent when people voice an assumption.

17. What does your joy look like today?

Playing Puzzle Express. It's a simple game: You fit shapes into an oblong grid in order to fill every space. The shapes appear on a conveyor belt and you have a limited amount of single squares. You can easily run out of room before you get the right shapes to finish off the grid.

The grids are all containers attached to the back of a train and you go to different US cities and are shown info about each city.

What I really like is that every completed line shows a bit of the background picture (the completed grid shows the whole picture) and you can add your own pictures to the game. I love completing a line and trying to figure out which pic it is. I get so disappointed when it's not one of my pics.

I've been trying to get an English version of the game for ages now as the CD Rom versions are in German! I finally found it as a download on WildTangent.

I'm up to the episode Bane.

Big ugly bugs.

Oh my goodness, yes they are. *shudder*

Soon!

(Let's hope it's something good!)

14. What is the difference between living and existing?

Living is when you enjoy life. Existing is when you don't.

Stargate SG1. It's been years since I've watched it and I'd forgotten how good it can be. (Especially in the Daniel h/c department.)

So far Daniel has had his wife kidnapped, seen his wife as host to a Goa'uld, got beaten up by Jack, been turned into a Neanderthal, been presumed dead (he wasn't dead), fallen for a Goddess, been shot by Alt!Teal'c, been shot by Jaffa and almost died, almost got blown up, almost got killed in prison, relived his parents' deaths, became addicted to using a sarcophagus...

...and I'm not even a third of the way through season 2.

Was it canon or fanon that called him Dead Again Daniel?

13. Do you celebrate the things you do have?

Not enough. I'm in my own home, with the help I need. I have a pc, a kindle, and the internet to entertain me. And I live with the fluffiest diva in the western hemisphere.

(Who, btw, likes to get a stroke then pull my hand to her mouth so she can gnaw on it a little. I'm bullied, I tell ya.)

12. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

Hmmm, if I knew it'd have no effect on my life at all?

I'd never go to my hospital appointments. I'd save myself the stress and aggravation of spending 4 hours (waiting for patient transport, travelling, waiting to be seen, waiting for patient transport, and travelling home again) just to spend 10 minutes seeing a specialist.

I go in case there's been a development in treatment, and in case I need those specialists to tell the benefits system that I'm still this disabled.

11. Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength?

Neither. I believe tears are a natural biological function. Having said that, I dislike crying in front of people so maybe I do see it as a weakness.

9. What’s a belief that you hold with which many people disagree?

Well...I can understand why Flat-Earthers believe the Earth is flat.

Let me make it clear, before your eyeballs pop from their sockets, I don't agree with them at all. The Earth is round like a ball, not round like a plate (as I think Terry Pratchett said).

But how do I (or you) know? Because people have told us so. I don't know anyone who's circum-navigated the globe or been up in space and given the Earth's backside a quick ogle. But lots of people say so, so it must be true. Right?

Um, no. People spread misinformation all the time: Vaccines are bad; Shakespeare didn't write his own plays; Trump isn't breaking any laws at all. You get the idea.

I believe the Earth is round (like a ball) because of the huge difference in timezones. I think if the Earth was flat, much more of us would have the same sunrise and sunset times.

So, I believe the Earth is round (like a ball) but I can understand mistrusting information you can't actually verify.
