Today's movie is The Truman Show. (Spoilers alert!)
Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) has practically the perfect life. He has a good job, a lovely wife called Meryl, a beautiful home, and he's known his best friend, Marlon, since they were kids. What Truman doesn't know is that his life is a 24 hours a day TV show, and his wife, mother, best friend, everyone he sees, are all actors.

I find this film fascinating. It's not just Truman - the poor sap whose every move is orchestrated - but also those around him. Every single person has forgotten (or is ignoring) that Truman is a human being who's spent his life as a puppet.
Christof, the show's creator and director (who's fiercely protective of his own privacy) sees nothing wrong with acting as a God in Truman's universe, even going so far as being willing to kill Truman to maintain control.
In a way, it's horrifying to watch as all these people (including Truman's fans) enjoy watching Truman being a dancing bear in his own little circus.
It's also satisfying to watch as Truman fights his way to freedom. I'm only sorry we don't get to witness the aftermath as the circus is shut down and everyone has to go home.
