Today's movie is Mirror Mirror.
Mirror Mirror is a fairytale movie based on (surprise!) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Lily Collins is the very beautiful heroine and Armie Hammer is Prince Alcott. Julia Roberts is the Evil Queen.
This isn't a straightforward rendition of the fairytale. It's out-and-out hilarious at times. The Queen spends her time taxing the poor to pay for her parties, undergoing extreme beauty treatments (Julia Roberts really earned her money there) and being sarcastic to everyone around her.
The prince turns up and, despite his sidekick, Renbock, trying to warn him the Queen is crazy ("There's 'I'm in the same room as a prince crazy', and then there's 'good old fashioned plain traditional psycho crazy'. I fear she's the latter."), the prince trusts her enough to drink a potion that makes him believe he loves her.
He also thinks he's a dog because it was a Puppy Love potion, which is kind of awkward for the Queen.
Anyway, it's a really fun movie that doesn't take itself seriously.
