My journal is now partly friends-locked. My locked posts are usually just personal ones, but my finished fanfic (which I post under the name of 'Dimity Blue') is posted unlocked here.

New friends are welcome so if you'd like to read, please comment here and let me know.

If you'd like to friend me just to keep up on my fanfic or my advent calendars, feel free! Just drop me a line if you'd like me to friend you back or I'll assume you're just popping by for fic!

Note: If you're looking for Arnie or Arnie1967, that's me! I just fancied a name change. :oD

Hope you enjoy the Pros dvds! I got them a couple of years ago, & got totally hooked (last time I saw them was the original screening). I had great fun squealing about how dated the cars look - not a problem for me with US shows of the same era, as I'd never be able to date an American car by its appearance, but wait until you see some of the police cars - they look antiquated! Maybe you'll be tempted to join us Pros writers in due course...

I found your short snippets & enjoyed them a lot - can't have too much a good thing!

Oh, and did I see that you're a Chalet School fan? Me too! It took me about 2 decades, but I've finally got the whole lot, so I was fascinated to see that it might be possible to get the original rather than the cut-down versions now.

You might want to sit down for this next bit. Somewhere, I came across a Pros/Chalet School crossover, & it was a riot! Completely daft, but hysterically funny in a toe-curling ("limp, grey, and to all appearance, dead") kind of way. If you're intrigued, I'll see if I can track it down, but I quite understand if the whole idea strikes you as completely weird!

You're kidding me! A Pros/CS crossover? Was it gen? If so, I'd love to read it. Yes, I'm a CS fan too - have been since I was 14. I love the CS quote you included too! I always think of the Emerence and Mary Lou sledding scene over that, though I know EBD used it at least one other time.

Talking of Mary Lou, I've just got Three Go to the CS, the uncut version. It's practically unbelievable how much gets cut out. There's a whole subplot about Gillian Linton meeting Clem's Godfather, Peter Young, and getting engaged to him. The Armada version skipped that out completlely!

If you're interested, Girls Gone By publishers are here:

I have mine on standing pre-order with a supplier as it's £1 cheaper per book that way. Also, I don't have to worry about missing a book because I forgot it was coming out. :oD

Btw, do you write gen or slash Pros? I know most of the writers are slash but I really can't see the guys that way at all. Where are your fics posted?

It really does exist - would I dream something like that? But, of course, I can't track the wretched thing down at the moment. I'm fairly sure it was gen, but my quick search through the main archives hasn't thrown anything up. If I manage to track it down and it is gen, I'll send you the link.

Thanks for the link to Girls Gone By - I shall definitely investigate that. I think I recall some mention in a later book about Gillian Linton marrying Clem's godfather (is he a doctor, by any chance?) but it would be nice to have more details. That phrase has become a standing joke for my daughter & me - she's read them all too, at least twice. I think the Armada sabotage which most irritated me was the CS Fete/A Genius at the CS debacle - the editions I've got don't even make sense, with scenes from one half-term mixed up with scenes from the other, all out of sequence. Drives me mad!

My Pros stuff (not much of it!) is mostly at http://www.thecircuitarchive.com - two of the stories are slash (though very mild), but the one called "Brightly Shone the Moon" isn't.

I couldn't see it at first, but then, after immersing myself in gen for quite a while, I strayed across the line, read some terrific stories and am now a convert, although I still love a good gen story too. Bifictional, that's me!

Thanks for the link to your Pros fic. I'll have fun reading that!

They haven't republished CS Fete or Genius yet. As they were originally (if I remember rightly) one book, that should be an interesting book to read! Armada really messed with some books - the full version of School at the Chalet was double the width of the ordinary Armada one.

As for Peter Young, he was not, for once (how many of them married doctors?!), a doctor - he was an artist. I'm sure in one of the later books he donates a painting to the school or is offered a commission to paint Madame's portrait.
