But Facebook have explained how they'll use this info. Facebook help page. For those you don't want to click on the link, here's what they're asking for.

*Read your text messages (SMS or MMS)
*Download files without notification
*Read/write your contacts
*Add or modify calendar events and send email to guests without owners’ knowledge
*Read calendar events plus confidential information

So, basically, they can read your text and picture messages, alter your calendar, email any invited guests to your events, but it's all to make your life easier. o.O

So, so glad I don't access FB via a phone! It can be bad enough just accessing it via the PC at home, without all of this added invasion of privacy.

A friend of mine mentioned that Facebook is a standard, pre-installed app on her phone, and she can't delete it off. It really is insidious.

I use it to play a few games, but those games are being deleted in April. I also keep up with a few friends on it, but it might go to being a once a week thing for me.

This is why I still don't have a Facebook page -- even tho it means I am completely out of the loop on how some friends are doing. I know I'll have to cave eventually but I won't be doing it until I have time to sit down and seriously explore security settings.

I don't blame you. You might be better off using a variation on your name with an email address you haven't used for anything else at all - and don't give them your phone number!
