Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
T - Do you have any hard and fast head canons that you will die defending?

There are stacks of fandoms I'm not actually in but I see on my flist.

Some of these, I've seen the series (The Professionals, Doctor Who, Blake 7...) but I'm not in the fandoms at all. It's interesting to see snippets of other fandoms.
T - Do you have any hard and fast head canons that you will die defending?
Die defending? No. I'll agree to disagree rather than insist on death.
Personal head canons: Mycroft is Molly Weasley's cousin (because it's such fun to imagine).
Sherlock is straight, a virgin, and that isn't likely to change. I think Sherlock's straight (possibly bi, but more likely straight) because Molly Hooper shook him to the core at the Christmas party. A gay guy (Jim from IT) slipping Sherlock his number? Nothing. A bisexual or gay woman (Irene) using the lure of sex as a mind game? Sherlock was fascinated over the mind games but he didn't feel threatened. Molly, with her straightforward crush on and adoration of Sherlock, turns up at the Christmas party looking stunning and Sherlock panics. He retreats (literally turns his back on the party), then returns full force as he obnoxiously reminds everyone just how much of a genius he is.
It screamed insecurity to me. Okay, so Lestrade had to put his eyeballs back in their sockets (love his quiet, "Wow!" when Molly takes her coat off), but why would Sherlock be affected unless he was attracted to her?
Which leads us to the second part of the problem: Sherlock has no sexual experience (up to then, anyway), and he hates to be seen as less than a genius in all areas. Look at his reaction to John exposing his ignorance over the solar system. There's no way Sherlock would expose his blank ignorance on sex to Molly Hooper.
As for Janine... Maybe Sherlock had read up on the subject enough to fake it (or maybe he had a How To manual stashed under the bed) but it wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't actually slept together but were faking it.
Anyway, that's my theory on Sherlock's sexuality.
