She played Joanie in Happy Days. One of those actresses you grow up with, you know? I can't believe she's gone. In my mind, she's still Richie Cunningham's 17 yr old little sister.
I didn't even watch Happy Days, but she was so well-known and so identified with that character that I knew who she was right away. 56! That's only one year older than me.
I felt strangely relieved, if that's the right word, to learn that she apparently died of cancer. I was so afraid it would be an accidental drug overdose or suicide. She led a hard life.
