19. What's the most interesting thing you've read this week?

Probably Amberwell, the D.E. Stevenson book I read at the beginning of the week.

18. Do you enjoy gardening? Have you started your garden already? What are you planting this year?

No. I like looking at pretty flowers but I've never been into gardening.

17. What's a trait you admire in other people that, if you're honest, you also have? (And by all rights should admire it about yourself!)

Kindness.

16. What three features would be non-negotiable in your dream house?

Big windows, wooden floors, lots of bookcases.

15. It's income tax day in the U.S. What do you enjoy the most that your tax dollars provide for society?

I'm in the UK, so my answer is the NHS. It's clunky, unwieldy, desperate for more nurses, doctors, and funding...but it provides healthcare for one and all. You might have to wait for appointments, not all treatments are covered, and not all doctors are worth seeing, but it's an amazing system that keeps on going. Long may it reign!

If anyone's curious to read one, the Open Library has a few you can borrow. The School at the Chalet is the first book.

Funny cat!

For all the kitty fans out there.

Cat cleaning himself with one leg in the air. Owner sneaks up and high fives him.

I've missed a number of days, I know.

10. Do you prefer to write with a pen, pencil, or other writing utensil?
A pen, if I'm writing something out. If I'm writing (as in a story), I type using my mouse to click the letters on an onscreen keyboard. It's horribly slow.

11. It's Celebrate Teen Lit Day! What's a favorite book from your teen years?
The Princess of the Chalet School. It was a tatty little Armada paperback and was given to me by my much-loved Auntie Vi (my Grandma's sister). It introduced me to the wonderful world of the Chalet School by Elinor M. Brent-Dyer. The original series was 60 books long and covered the years from 1928 to the late 60s. The books set just before and during WW2 are especially interesting.

12. What is your favorite snack food?
Chocolate or biscuits, espcially jammy dodgers.

13. What sorts of things are you most likely to buy at a thrift store or second-hand shop?
Bric à brac.

14. It's Perfume Day today. What are your favorite perfumes and colognes?
Vanderbilt or Yardley's violets.

To all those who celebrate it, I hope you have a joyful Easter.

I've just finished watching the last season of The Good Place. I hate the last episode. *grabs tissues and sobs*

Has anyone else watched the series?

The pre-recorded video shows a scenic train journey between Bergen and Oslo.

There are live streams of:

3 cities - New York, Tokyo, and Venice.

2 different animals - a watering hole at the Tembe Elephant Park and the GRACE gorilla conservation centre in the Congo.

An Elves Village in Finland.

A sunset every day from a remote Thai beach.

The Northern Lights in Canada.

The view of Earth from the International Space Station.

All to be seen from your own home.

29. What fictional world would you most like to visit?

Narnia.

I'm sure I saw this answer on another LJ in answer to a similar question, but what a lovely answer.

21. What is one thing you did this week that moved you closer to one of your goals?
Ha! That was today's news! I heard from a new relative!

Gerbera daisies, tulips, and roses.

23. What was a favorite book you read when you were a child?
The Lost Prince, by Frances Hodgson-Burnett.

A joke!

Title: Deliverance
Author: Dimity Blue
Rating: PG
Genre: het, episode fix it, non con
Characters: Thomas Watkins, Rose Buck, Elizabeth Kirbridge, Laurence Kirbridge
Word Count: 2,838 words
Disclaimer: Not mine.

Warning: Attempted rape (implied).

Fix it for season 2 episode 3 "Married Love". Spoilers for that episode and the following episode "Whom God Hath Joined".

On AO3.

This really is total nonsense as Thomas Watkins is too self-centred for this. Plus, I don't think he actually realised how drunk Elizabeth was. I just wanted to see Elizabeth saved.

19. What is your least favorite household chore?
Washing up.

20. Houseplants – yea or nay?
Yes! I don't have any, because they frequently don't do well with cats, but I think they (or flowers) add a lovely touch to a room.
