19. Do you operate out of any particular faith system that informs your actions? Do you intentionally NOT have a faith system, and if so, what beliefs or ideas inform your actions?

I do have a faith system but it doesn't inform my actions. I act the way I do because it's important to me to be a decent person who treats others the way I want to be treated: with kindness and compassion.

18. What is the most extreme weather you have ever experienced?

I think it was the winter at the beginning of 2011. It froze, it snowed, it froze, it snowed... The ice was inches thick and traffic shut down all over the place. It felt like it took forever to warm up into spring.

17. What self-care things do you find helpful to ground yourself or "talk yourself down from the ledge" when you’re overwhelmed by your feelings or by stress?

Playing Spider or a puzzle video game. It distracts me enough that I can calm down.

16. What is your favorite board game?

I used to love Cluedo and I remember having an obscure board game called Quest that involved castles and a ring. Monopoly was another fun one, but I guess my favourite would be Cluedo.

14. Who was your very first best friend? Are you still in contact or communication with them?

Her name was Ruth. We were both 5 and we met at school. Unfortunately, she and her family moved within a year and I don't think I've seen her since. If I have, I didn't recognise her.

I'm pretty sure of the actual facts in this, I'm just curious if there's a reason I'm missing.

The 1901 and 1911 censuses give me the ages of William and Emma as 5/15 and 2/12. Therefore their birth years are ~1896 and ~1899. A search on the GRO gives me birth years of 1896 and 1898. That all works out.

Then I find their baptism records. They were baptised on the same day (13 Feb 1906). Their names/parents' names/address/father's occupation all match.

Their listed birthdates are 24 Aug 1895 for William and 4 Oct 1894 for Emma.

Do I assume J.M. K--- (who baptised them) was really bad at maths or am I missing something?

13. What are your favorite pizza toppings?

Cheese and sweetcorn or cheese and tomato. It's been ages since I had pizza. *wants*

In all the furore over Harry and Meghan, I find this Buzzfeed article fascinating.

It highlights the difference in how the press covers Kate vs. Meghan. Like Kate tenderly cradling her baby bump vs. Meghan "is it pride, vanity, acting or a new age bonding technique?"

I think my favourite is Meghan endangered Charlotte's life by having lily of the valley flowers in her wedding. Kate also had lily of the valley flowers in her wedding but there was no implication she was trying to off one of her bridesmaids.

If someone was continuously posting crap like this about me, I'd be all, "Screw it, I'm out."

I forgot to post this yesterday.

11. Have you ever been asked for your telephone number and you didn't want to give it? What did you do?
Never happened to me. I've been something of a recluse all my life.

12. Have you ever had a "crush" on a fictional character?
Ha! When haven't I? Isn't that completely normal?

10. What was the last film you saw at a theatre/cinema?

Uh, possibly The Return of the King. Yes, the LOTR one. I know! I don't get out much.

I recently read that Peter Jackson (the director) is an arachnophobe so he based Shelob (huge, ultra-terrifying spider) on all the spider attributes he found most terrifying.

Thanks for that, Peter!

There's an Isaac Asimov story called The Ugly Little Boy in which a Neanderthal child is snatched through time and kept in a stasis bubble for a few years as an experiment.

He's looked after by Miss Fellowes, a nurse, who grows to love Timmie (as she names him).

Timmie's a prisoner in the stasis bubble as it would expend far too much energy to let him cross into this timeline fully.

Spoilers here.

8. Would you rather live in a deep-sea station or a space station?

Space station. The deep sea is freaky.

Anyone care to give me a hand with this address? The 1861 census taker had interesting writing.

If it helps, the area is St. Martins, Liverpool, UK. It was in Lancashire at the time.
