I've decided to change to a different set of questions as I wasn't enjoying the other set. I might cherrypick the old set at some point.

Here's day 1 of the new set.

1. When was the last time you tried something new?

A week last Saturday. I'd heard about vegetarian fake fish fillets that were supposed to be good and Elaine (my aunt) bought me a pack to try. Christine (my BFF) and I tried them out when Christine was here. They were rather good. I've been vegetarian for 28 years now, so I don't remember how cod tastes, but Christine eats fish and she said they'd fool her.

Unfortunately, the fake fillets contain yeast (I have an intolerance for yeast) and they made my face break out in a bad rash. I don't think I'll have the fillets again though as the rash was really quite severe.

8 At what point of decay do you throw away your underwear?

Saggy elastic or holes. I really hate it when my knickers sag!

7 Which person do you interact with the most in your life without knowing what their name is? It's probably too late to ask now, right?

Some of the Tesco delivery drivers. I don't interact with a lot of people.

I had trouble sleeping (again) last night so I read this book.

Written by Mona Golabek and Lee Cohen, it's based on the true story of Mona's mother, Lisa Jura, who was sent  at the age of 14, from her home in pre-war Vienna on the Kindertransport to England.

The book covers Lisa's years during the war. At first her concern was to find a sponser for her 12 year old sister, Sonia. Without a sponsor, Sonia couldn't board the Kindertransport for England.

Lisa stayed in London during the war. For most of it, she lived at a hostel in Willesden Lane for Kindertransport children. During the day, she worked at a factory which made uniforms for Britain's armed forces. In the evening, she studied music so she could become a concert pianist.

~~~
I really enjoyed the book. It depicts what life must have been like for those children, so far from home, who had no way to find out what was happening to their parents, siblings, and family who were trapped in Europe and unable to escape Hitler's grasp.
6 Would you rather be able to channel the spirits of dead celebrities or never have to replace the light bulb in your bathroom?
"Be able to but refrain from when I wish'? Otherwise, imagine the inconvenience and chaos. Also, unless I was hoping to make a living at it, I'd rather (excuse the phrase) pass.
Besides, LED bulbs are supposed to last for 10 years. There's very little hardship to getting one fitted.
5 What colour is your toothbrush? Are you happy with that colour?
It's a battery operated one by Colgate that's white and blue. I don't care about its colour.
3 Have you ever intervened heroically in any emergency situation with a complete stranger?
Only if you count shouting, "Watch out!" to a lady who was about to be hit by a bus. She jerked back in time.
I think I was braver the time I was at a bus stop and saw a dog lying in the gutter and the poor thing wasn't moving. I had to go over to see if it was still alive. Had to. It wasn't until I saw its face that I realised it was a large soft toy. I swear my knees turned weak with the relief. I picked it up and put it by the wall so no one else would think it had been run down.
4 What's the most surprising thing that you can't do?
Walk? Stand?
2 If you could choose anyone to be your parents who would you choose?
Woe.
Ha ha! That was meant to be 'wow'. Talk about a Freudian slip! Back to the question.
Hmmm. Fictional parents tend to come off better than real ones, so I'll go with Mr. and Mrs. Waterbury, the parents of "The Railway Children". They seemed rather lovely to me.
1 What's your favourite type of weather?
Sunny and warm with blue skies and white clouds and a gentle breeze.
Hillside is an animal sanctuary in the UK, that's supported by Martin Shaw (yes, him of The Professionals). They take in a lot of farm animals and have over 2,000 horses, donkeys, cows, ducks, turkeys, chickens, pigs, rabbits, dogs...etc.
They're having a tough time because hay is more expensive, and the economy isn't helping.
If anyone's looking for gifts for family or friends, please consider shopping in their online shop. They take PayPal along with credit cards.
They also accept donations if anyone wants to give them a few pounds.
28 If you could travel back to medieval times what single object would you take back with you that would guarantee that you would be made a king/Queen (or burned for witchcraft!)?
First, I wouldn't be willing to go. I love history but don't want to experience it first hand. If I had to go, I'd take a whole stack of books detailing the medicinal properties of every plant and the cures for every disease possible.
24 Would you rather be a vapour or a liquid?
A vapour. I'd get to travel that way.
21 Do you see yourself as a pterodactyl or a lawnmower?
A lawnmower. I get pushed around by others.
22 If you could quantum leap into any other person who would you leap into and what would you change in their life?
Hahahaha! I'd quantum leap into whoever made the decision to target those receiving care and let them see life from this side.
Day 20: Butterflies.
It's weird really. Wihout wings, they'd be creepy crawly insects. Put fairy wings on them, and they're graceful, lovely flutterbies who dance in the summer breeze.
