Hillside is an animal sanctuary in the UK, that's supported by Martin Shaw (yes, him of The Professionals). They take in a lot of farm animals and have over 2,000 horses, donkeys, cows, ducks, turkeys, chickens, pigs, rabbits, dogs...etc.

They're having a tough time because hay is more expensive, and the economy isn't helping.

If anyone's looking for gifts for family or friends, please consider shopping in their online shop. They take PayPal along with credit cards.

They also accept donations if anyone wants to give them a few pounds.

28 If you could travel back to medieval times what single object would you take back with you that would guarantee that you would be made a king/Queen (or burned for witchcraft!)?

First, I wouldn't be willing to go. I love history but don't want to experience it first hand. If I had to go, I'd take a whole stack of books detailing the medicinal properties of every plant and the cures for every disease possible.

25 Is there anything you learned at school that has any kind of practical application in real life?

Lots! Times tables, arithmetic, physics, and speechmarks.

24 Would you rather be a vapour or a liquid?

A vapour. I'd get to travel that way.

21 Do you see yourself as a pterodactyl or a lawnmower?
A lawnmower. I get pushed around by others.

22 If you could quantum leap into any other person who would you leap into and what would you change in their life?
Hahahaha! I'd quantum leap into whoever made the decision to target those receiving care and let them see life from this side.

Day 20: Butterflies.

It's weird really. Wihout wings, they'd be creepy crawly insects. Put fairy wings on them, and they're graceful, lovely flutterbies who dance in the summer breeze.

20 What type of toothpaste do you use?

Kingfisher toothpaste in mint. It's cruelty free.

19 Who is your favourite Steve?

Steve Guttenberg, the actor. He was in a number of fun comedies/romcoms including one of my favourite ghost films, High Spirits. (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095304)

Day 18: A good night's sleep.

When I sleep really well and don't wake up until after 6am. Instead of hours and hours of boring night lying in front of me, the night's almost over.

I didn't do that last night. I struggled to sleep at all last night. :o(

18 What's the scariest thing that has ever happened to you in a B&B?

Not a B&B but a hotel. I was sharing a room with a friend and I woke up and realised someone was going through her bags.

I called her name, and it turned out the figure was her. I'd been snoring so loudly she'd had to get up to find the earplugs she used when she rode her motorbike. I was so embarrassed.

Two TV series: Garrison's Gorillas and Sherlock.

Garrison's Gorillas
I don't post a lot about Garrison's Gorillas but it's been a favourite of mine for 30 years now. It was made and shown in 1967/8, and lasted for 1 season. It was shown again in the UK in 1989 (which is when I first saw it).

It's set during World War II and is about an Intelligence unit comprised of an American Lt. and 4 convicts who are working for the US Army in order to earn a parole. The scripts are a bit hit and miss, with very improbable scenarios but there's quite a bit of humour included.

For me, the real attraction in Garrison's Gorillas is the characters and the friendships between the characters that develop over the episodes. They go from being suspicious of each other and their leader to close friends who'll risk their lives for each other.

Sherlock
Do I need to explain Sherlock? I think most people are aware of the series.

I really really enjoy the series, the first episode especially. I love the little details Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss included from the books (like the neighbour being Mrs. Turner), as well as the fun way they modernised everything.

I love all the main characters and the interactions between the characters. I love that they all acknowledge Sherlock is incredibly socially inept (he's a git) but they love him anyway.

Christine was down yesterday and I was really tired, so I didn't post.

16 What's the most impulsive thing you've ever done?
Bought something. I tend to be a very impulsive buyer.

17 What's your favourite oxide?
Okay. I can't even with this question. I don't have a favourite oxide. Does anyone?
I take it back. [personal profile] swordznsorcery reminded me of Nitrous oxide.

Day 15: Silent clocks.

Also known as tickless clocks, which makes it sound like someone took the tick out as opposed to the clock never having a tick in the first place.

I like knowing the time but I hate hearing clocks tick. I especially dislike hearing clocks tick when I'm trying to sleep. I also especially dislike hearing a number of clocks tick at the same time.

So it was an absolute pleasure to discover you can buy traditional looking clocks that are completely silent.

Oddly enough, my Grandad felt the same way about clocks. He couldn't abide hearing a clock tick when he was trying to sleep either.

15 What's the worst date you have ever been on?

I haven't been on many so there really wasn't a worst.

Day 14: My favourite gesture of love is holding hands.

It's such a small thing but it makes me melt inside.

14 If you had to marry a Muppet which Muppet would you marry?

Had to? I don't think the Muppets go in for forced marriages. However, if I was going to marry a Muppet, it'd be Animal. He is such a fun character who runs full tilt at life. I could never be bored with him around.
