19 What's the strangest statue you've ever seen?

Hmm. I don't think I've seen any strange statues.

But! I used to pass a strange building on my way to college in Liverpool. The bombed out church (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_St_Luke,_Liverpool) is a ruin. The church was mostly destroyed during WW2, though the shell of the building remains. It's kept as a monument to those lost during WW2.

Photos under the cut.

I completely forgot to post yesterday's question, so here's 2 together.

17 If your house was on fire what three things would you definitely leave behind or even surreptitiously throw into the flames when no one was looking?
Nothing! If I hated something that much I'd give it away. One person's trash is another person's treasure, and all that.

18 What children's toy or accessory do you wish they made in adult size?
Rocking horses. I think the really nice ones are adorable. Or, ooh, they could do different adult-sized animals, like elephants or llamas.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if you can actually buy these but I bet they cost a fortune.

I'm not getting any notifications at all (not by email or even in my inbox) when people reply to any comments I've made.

Anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks to amedia whose suggestion reminded me of this.

16 Have you ever planned what you would do in the event of a zombie apocalypse?

Die. I'd be good to outrun them until the battery in my wheelchair runs out, then I'd be a sitting target.

15 Which supposedly attractive film star do you think is a bit ugly?

The problem I have is that so many of them look alike. But ugly, hmmm...

I never got the attraction of Brad Pitt. So many people were swooning over him and I just didn't get it at all.

14 What is your most impressive party trick?

I don't think I have one, let alone an impressive one. Shame.

Tell me about yours though.

13 Is there something you once abhorred that you now adore?

I really don't think so. I'm not likely to change my view so radically on something I've abhorred.

I didn't like And Now There Were None that much on the first read as it's a bit of a shock to the system, but now I enjoy it as a really good psychological thriller. I guess that's the closest answer I've got.

12 What subject were you worse at at school?

Chemistry. I had no interest in it and I always felt sick from the smell of gas.

As an aside, our Science teacher looked like a frog in glasses, was rumoured to be a perv, and wore Rupert the Bear trousers.

6 What is your favourite keyboard shortcut?
7 If you were guaranteed that you would be unkillable, indestructible and uninjurable for the next ten years, but you would die once the decade was up, would you go for it?
8 When you are watching films do you Google the actors to find out if they are still alive and/or what else they have been in?
9 Have you ever been in a canoe?
10 Which children's story, song or TV programme do you think is most fundamentally flawed, plot-wise?
11 Do you prefer coffee or aeroplanes? If you had to choose to eradicate one of the two from all human history which would go?

Answers under the cut.

1 Would you rather relive the last 365 days or lose a year of your life?
Unless I could fix things (like not break my foot and spend months in agony), then take a year of my life.

2 What is your most mundane encounter with a celebrity?
I haven't met so many that any were mundane!

3 What's the best advice you've ever received and ignored?
Put your legs up every day, it'll help ease the swelling.

4 What's the best museum you've ever been to?
One I went to as a kid. They had a recreation of a Victorian street. I loved it.

5 Twelfth Night is also known as Epiphany. Have you ever had an epiphany?
Yep.

June Whitfield has passed on at 93.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-46712694

She was in one of my favourite Carry Ons, Carry On Abroad, where she played this shrew of a wife who was never happy. "That sun is too hot. This shade is too cold. I'm going inside." She was hilarious.

Godspeed, lady.

(The full article is there.)

A letter to Santa written by a Victorian schoolgirl has been discovered 120 years on.

In it five-year-old Marjorie from Eastbourne asks for toy ducks and chickens, a canvas stocking and a piece of ribbon and a ball for her cat, Kittykins.

The letter, dated 2 December 1898, was found hidden inside a book donated to a charity shop.

It is now being displayed at a toy shop in Canterbury.

~~~
I hope Marjorie and her cat got their gifts. ♥
