I had to do this. Those of you who haven't seen it have to know how truly weird this show is.

I slept a bit better last night. Before I went to sleep, I watched an episode of Pushing Daisies (2007-2009).

After I awoke, my first though was to wonder if I fell asleep and dreamed most of it. I've checked and I didn't.

That would have made more sense.

It's amazing how long you can spend trying to get to sleep. Tonight, it's joint pain that's keeping me awake.

I think I've been awake since about 2. I must have dozed on and off as there's no way I've been awake for 5 hours.

Paracetamol isn't working either.

ETA: And now my gas central heating isn't working either. :o(

In my search for a reliable supplier* of Squeaky Bean 'chicken' nuggets and 'fish' fingers, I did another search and found Sainsbury's are now selling them. I was a bit surprised as they didn't have them listed the last time I searched. But I ordered a home delivery, it was delivered yesterday morning, and I can categorically state that they are Squeaky Bean Nuggets and Fingers, and they taste just as good as ever.

*Asda is not reliable. They're usually sold out. Consider me displeased.

The second good thing?

I had to order a certain amount from Sainsbury's (you know the routine), so I added a book of 12 2nd class stamps (for £7.80) as Christmas is a'coming with all the subtlety of a drunkard in hobnailed boots. However, I realised last night that none of my carers had asked me where I wanted my book of stamps. Eve had done my cleaning call but she said she hadn't seen any stamps and she also said Emma had put away most of the shopping. Emma and Ellie had covered my personal calls and they'd helped put away the shopping.

Eve texted Emma ad asked about the stamps but got no response.

Today, I had Anne and Talia on my calls. I said to them at lunch that I was worried my stamps were lost, and I didn't want to buy them again as £7.80 is a fair chunk of change. "Stamps?" Anne echoed. Then she darted off into the kitchen and came back with them in her hand.

They were in my recycling tub! It's a good thing Anne pays attention or they'd be put out with the rest of the recycling. The cellophane bag they were in must have been stuck to the receipt Sainsbury's gave me. At least I have them now.

~~~
Update on my sleeping: I slept better than the night before but it really wasn't very good.
I've just watched Jumanji: The Next Level, the 3rd film in the franchise.
I really like the 1st Jumanji (with Robin Williams), but I found the 2nd (with the Rock) to be far funnier. Link to my review.
This one was a sequel to the 2nd, but not as good, IMO.
Spoilers ahoy!
This was taken by Jayde, one of my carers, last night. This is Daisy's favourite toy.
Silly kitty!
Episode 1.
"What's Only When I Laugh?" I hear many of you say.
"Only one of the best sitcoms set in a hospital!" I reply.
It might have been an earthquake.
About 20 minutes ago, there was a huge boom and the windows rattled. My first thought was a thunderstorm, but I didn't notice any lightning. If it was a thunderstorm, it was over and done with in one massive rumble.
It was very weird.
20. What's your favorite kind of bread?
Garlic flatbread. It's absolutely delicious.
21. What's a big pet peeve you have?
People using "I's" instead of "my".
22. Do you have an inanimate object that you have given a name?
My Kindle. It's actually to keep track of them on Amazon's system. I've had Trey (my 3rd), Quarto (my 4th), and my current one is Quinto.
17. If you were given $1M, with the stipulation that you must spend it on yourself within one year, how would you spend it?
I'd buy a bungalow and have it fitted out exactly how I wanted with everything adapted for me to use with the flick of a switch. It'd also have wider doorways so I could have Neater arm supports that'd enable me to lift my arms.
18. What do you daydream about?
Usually whatever story I'm working on. Sometimes, I daydream about being able-bodied.
19. What was the first song you ever memorized?
The Eton Boating Song, I think. I was playing it on the piano.
13. What's your favorite childhood story or fairy tale?
When I was a kid, I was fascinated by The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Even then, I thought they were terrible people for not caring what happened to the princes who were executed.
Now, I have a definite fondness for Cinderella.
14. What are your Top Ten favorite books?
Busman's Honeymoon - DL Sayers
Murder Must Advertise - DL Sayers
The Horse and his Boy - CS Lewis
The Lost Prince - Frances Hodgson-Burnett
Miss Buncle's Book - DE Stevenson
Black Sheep - Georgette Heyer
The City of Gold and Shadows - Ellis Peters
Never Pick Up Hitchhikers - Ellis Peters
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens
Choosing 10 was more difficult than I thought. There are so many books I'm fond of, but would they count as a favourite?
Did you guys ever watch this? It was an improv show that ran about 20 years ago. There was a UK and a US version. Basically, 4 comedians improvised scenes thought up by a studio audience.
I don't remember seeing the game "movie director*" on the UK show, but I've been watching bits and pieces of the episodes on YouTube and came across it. It's been keeping me entertained in the small hours of the morning. Here are some of my favourites.
*Movie director has 3 of the comedians acting out a given scene while the 4th is an angry director. He interrupts the scene to order them to act in a specific style.
7. Have you ever called in sick to work when you weren't actually ill but didn't want to give the real reason?
Yep. Before I received an official diagnosis, I was struggling with my walking and keeping my balance. The last winter I worked, the pavement was covered in ice. I didn't get far before I turned tail, went home, and rang in sick with a migraine.
8. Have you ever talked to yourself out loud in public?
Not that I recall.
9. Are you a worrier? What's something you're worried about right now. Can you do something constructive about the situation?
I used to worry about everything. Now, I'm far more of a fatalist.
10. Would you sign up to be a colonist on another planet if it meant you would never be able to return to earth?
Nooooooooooo. That's regardless of a return journey or not. Have you seen sci-fi films? The colonies are the first to go.
11. Do you like having your picture taken? Why or why not?
Not really. I'm better than I was but I don't like the way I look.
12. Do you experiment with your hairstyle often, or do you have a classic style you stick with?
Classic? Style? What are these words you use?
The lady from the housing association rang me back. She still had no idea who/what/why, so I suggested she check any repair list for number 11 since we share the same path. She said she'd do that.
A short while later she rang me again to say it was on the repair list for number 11. Also, the repair team manager would be phoning me.
He did... He also expressed his confusion as to why number 11's path was affecting me. I explained it's a joint path to my front door and number 11's but it wasn't until I said it's a pair of flats that he understood. You'd think it would say on the system.
I pointed out that my carers are having to use number 13's path in order to get past the cement. I also pointed out I wouldn't have been able to get home if I'd been out. He apologised and agreed I should have been notified.
I'm just hoping this issue doesn't raise its ugly head again.
The manager said the concrete is dry enough to walk on now. My carers totally disagree. There's a rather large footprint at the other end. There's also a lot of pawprints. :oD
dimity_blue: (Speechbubble)
I rang my housing association about it and they had no idea what I was talking about. "Are you sure it was one of our contractors?" they asked.
Apparently, the cement fairies are alive, and well, and working in my area.
The lady on the phone said she'll contact the housing association's scheduling team to see who was working in my area and which jobs they were actually supposed to do. I should get a call back.
In the meantime, I rang Ocado to ask them to inform my delivery driver that he'll need to use next door's path.
I really hope I get my shopping!
